The Dream Island project is located on the Óbuda Island - this island on the Danube is one of the most famous historical monuments in Budapest.
In the II century the palace of the Roman governor has been built here (Hadrianus palace) with the first harbour of Budapest. The Investor has committed itself to build a new city on this island for the 21th century, which serves for entertainment, cultural and touristic purposes and at the same time gives a new boom to the river life along the Danube. We are working on the theoretical permit based on the valid urban plan made by Nagy Béla. The Dream Island is the largest investment of its kind in Central Europe. This will be the biggest construction in the following years in Hungary. It is a complex of entertainment, leisure, recreational, educational and resort functions. The investment includes 3, 4 and 5 star hotels with app. 3500 rooms and apartment units, an 50 000 m2 entertainment area including casino, exhibition hall and a performance theatre for 1000 visitors , a conference and convention centre, retail marina, piers for large boats and water game facilities, including the underground parking levels for 5000 cars. All together the project consists over 500 000 m2 of construction area. The target date of opening is 2012. The traffic connections to the project will be established by two main directions. Above the southern edge of the island stretches the Árpád Bridge, from which there will be constructed a double loop junction. The project will also be connected to the Szentendrei Highway by a tunnel below the river. Today the island is connected by two bridges to the lower embankment of Buda. These existing connections will be kept and developed for the extra traffic load. The design tries to take full advantage of the very unique location with the internal bay, the presentation of the ruins of Hadrianus Palace and the beautiful landscape.
